Have your drains cleaned by a professional on a regular basis

Grease and oil buildup is one of the most common causes of sewer line blockage. This includes food waste, but it also includes things like soap scum. Having your drains cleaned by specialists on a regular basis helps prevent minor obstructions from becoming significant issues.

While drain cleaning is an excellent technique to remove this build-up, you can avoid it entirely by not dumping hot cooking fat down the drain. Although grease appears to be alright when it is liquid, it solidifies when it cools, forming a sludge that can collect other debris and eventually cause a significant clog in the drains.

Installing landscaping before conducting research is not recommended

Tree roots can grow silently beneath the ground, breaking through underground pipes and obstructing sewage flow. This is what roots are designed to do: they will naturally seek for the nearest water source. This could be sewage in a sewer line. The roots will first cause a difficulty, then a breach, and finally a severe line blockage.

To avoid this problem, make sure you don’t plant anything near a sewer line. If you’re planning to plant a tree or shrub, go for one with shorter roots. Crape myrtles, amur maples, and a variety of other trees have smaller root systems. If you find a root obstruction, we can cut the roots without causing major damage. Slow-flowing drains, changes in water pressure, and blockages are all signs.

Keep an eye on the cleanouts

The best approach to get direct access to your sewer line is through your cleanouts. They are those white plastic-capped pipes that protrude out a few inches from the ground and are usually found directly outside a home in the yard. Cleanouts should be maintained on a regular basis to keep your yard clean and odor-free. Check them once or twice a month to make sure they’re full of water and the caps are secure. Unscrew the cap and pour a tiny amount of bleach inside if you sense a scent.
